Papier Collé: a POELLE drop on the art of collage
POELLE presents Papier Collé, a drop of leather bags and accessories inspired by the art of collage and by the modernist artists of the 20th century. The line brings together our own design, natural leather and an artist’s approach to making accessories.
The name refers to papier collé, the technique started by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Henri Matisse and Kurt Schwitters later took it further, and their work inspired our creative team.
“We don’t quote art literally; we work with its principles. What draws us is the idea of building a whole image from separate fragments: color, form and material,” says creative director Pavlo Popko.
The collection brings women’s bags and leather accessories in colors drawn from collage: classic black, warm browns and milky white, with accents of carmine, lime and ochre.
Each model in Papier Collé reflects what POELLE stands for: contemporary bags and accessories that combine minimalism, function and an artist’s eye. Handmade in Ukraine.
The campaign, shot by photographer Mariia Salivonova with model Kseniia Shevchenko, carries the collage idea on through flat and three-dimensional shapes in the frame.
